Cookies and similar storage
What we keep in your browser, why, and for how long.
What we store on your device
- Signing in: your signed-in session is kept in your browser’s storage while you are signed in. It is needed for the Service to work.
- Your city (lv_city): the city you chose, so the home page and boards open there.
- The first-visit pop-up (lv_fv): whether you have already seen it.
- A referral code (lv_ref, a cookie, 30 days): when you arrive through a person’s link, so that their invite is credited if you vote or start a board.
- A coupon code (lv_coupon, 30 days): when you arrive through a coupon link, until you sign in and it is applied to your account. Then it is removed.
- A campaign link key (lv_campaign, 30 days): when you arrive through a free-board link from a person you follow, until you sign in and your free board is made for you. Then it is removed. A session note (lv_campaign_open) remembers that the link was already counted during the visit.
- Keep voting cards (lv_keepvoting_dismissed for 7 days, lv_keepvoting_session and lv_feed_hold for the visit): so a card you dismissed stays away and a pick waits while you sign in.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
- On public pages we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. We do not use it on signed-in or management areas (your account, the owner and admin pages, starting a board), or on pages and searches about health or adult topics.
- It sets two cookies from this site: _ga and _ga_ followed by our stream code. They are first-party cookies set by Google’s script, and they last up to 2 years.
- Google signals and ad personalization are off, and we do not use Google Ads, remarketing or any other advertising feature. We do not send Google your name, phone number or email address.
- Before sending a page address to Google we remove the part after the question mark, except the page tab and campaign tags in a link, such as utm_source, which are counted. A referral or coupon code is never sent.
- If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, or you turn counting off below, Google Analytics does not load or send anything, and we remove its cookies.
Analytics choice
What we do not use
- No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking for ads and no remarketing.
- Our own visit counts use a rotating per-day key rather than a lasting identifier, and we do not store your internet address with those counts. Google Analytics is separate and is described above.
- We honor the Global Privacy Control signal where required.
Other companies
Paying happens on Stripe’s own page, and phone sign-in checks that a request comes from a real person using Google’s reCAPTCHA. Those companies may set their own cookies on their pages. Their policies apply there. See the Privacy policy for who runs the Service for us.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you do, you are signed out and the choices above (city, pop-up, dismissed cards) start over. Everything else on this page is described in more detail in our Privacy policy, section 10.
